After all the dust settles...

Do you think it's possible, for the sake of the god damned planet, for the Democrats, both Hillary and Bernie supporters to unite? You know, so that the fascist doesn't get into power and destroy everything. You do understand that we have an existential crisis on our hands, don't you? I'm fed up with all the sniping back and forth. Now I'm not American and cannot vote in your election (although I should be allowed considering how much power and influence the US wields over the world) so I would like to be assured that all of you are doing everything in your power to prevent the catastrophe that awaits if Trump gets in.

If he is elected, you won't be able to escape him no matter where you live in the world so don't even bother thinking about moving to another country. Just keep Don the Con away from the White House otherwise your move to Canada will only have you waiting around for the Anschluss.

about the environment - corporations and Wall Street have little concern about that issue because they are the polluters. Hillary is not going to take them on and we all know that. Trump of course is no better.

Your concern is understood but I think that supporters of both Trump and Hillary who claim to care about the world environment need to come our way. There is only one candidate who is concerned about Climate Change and the effects it will have on our world.

I often pose similar comments to Hillary supporters here on DU, and often get a "gotcha" response like claiming that Bernie has supported so many wars (the difference being he supported FUNDING, NOT actually GOING to war....) or some other nit picky thing, and silence on the actual issues. he has lost and have no path except scorched earth on hillary and that won't get him there either

I look at where hillary was in 2008 when it was undeniable just like it is now (for sanders) that she had lost....when she and bill backed off on Obama and let the final month of the primaries go pretty much unchallenged to obama. And then immediately starting at the convention rallied around obama and she and bill did everything they could to make him out next president..

I don't have high hopes for sanders doing the same, I would like to be surprised

Sanders has a different purpose. He wants to see fundamental change in America's political system, whereas the Clinton's wanted to regain the White House. Different incentives.

I'm fine with either Clinton or Sanders.

From a mostly objective standpoint, the vast majority of the nastiness has been "in support" of Sanders. I try to discount the worst of it as from Trump Trolls. Their objective has always been to cause enough strife to get the supporters of whoever loses to sit the general election out.

The question is if people let them succeed in their goal.

fuck about the planet, or women's rights, or anything Democrats care about.

We had Puma's in 2008, and we will have BoB's in 2016.

We will make the nation and the world a better place without them.

Sun May 29, 2016, 10:31 AM

in November, do not care enough about real issues to participate. They do not care if taxes are lowered on the rich. They do not care if the nation continues to ignore global warming. They do not care if the Federal minimum wage is abolished. They do not care if Muslimas and Latinos are rounded up and deported, or who sits on the Supreme Court, or anything at all. Choosing not to participate is a conscious action for which people are responsible.

They just simply don't fucking care.

By all means, they should vote for who they want in the primary. That is what primaries are, political preference checks or beauty contests; call it what you will.

General elections are about making the best choice from the options given us.

That is not "on our backs," as you say. It is simply the way our system works.

If Trump is elected, I will blame those who voted and those who did not care enough to go out and vote. I hold people responsible for their actions.

save the planet and guarantee equal rights for everyone including an equal chance to live a healthy, happy and rewarding life. They care just as much as you despite what you think, and frankly have a sense of urgency about doing those things that is clearly lacking in the DNC and democratic leadership today. They don't believe incrementalism will work successfully for most when it comes to global warming, economic globalism, and corporate takeover of governance.
They may well be right about that.

Oh, some will support Hillary for sure, but I wouldn't count on a majority of young people who had never before been inspired to participate coming out for Hillary. They don't see the benefit.

It's really up to the Democratic Party to convince them that they will benefit. Fear-mongering about Trump doesn't and won't do it. They don't see a Trump presidency as that much different from what they've been seeing for decades and what would continue to be true under a Hillary presidency. Income inequality, global climate, international conflict, social injustice, cultural and social divisiveness, poverty, etc, etc, have all grown worse in their lifetimes including under 16 years of Democratic Presidency.

The only thing that may win enough of the young people over to handily defeat Trump is a conspicuously clear commitment by Hillary and the DNC to take bold, not incremental, steps to turn those problems around now!

It is just not going to happen.

After the campaign she has run, after HRC, her husband, her daughter, her surrogates, and her supporters have made it the central part of their campaign to brand Bernie supporters as sexist, racist, thugs It is just not going to happen.

The true tragedy of it all is that despite the stated actions above HRC supporters seemed to continue to support her. She is divisive as fuck, and in 2008 enough of her supporters realized that to pivot to Obama thankfully. The fact that it did not happen in 2016 is a damn shame. Democratic voters are supposed to be the ones with empathy. It does not seem that many HRC supporters connected with that empathy this primary in order to realize the potentially devastating scenario that very well may unfold should HRC get the nomination.

It is truly tragic.

We (sanders supporters) Keep being told, in other threads and posts here, that we are a SMALL minority of the November electorate, that what we do doesn't matter because Hillary is the great, inevitable warrior who will conquer all, we aren't really Democrats and we should just roll over and accept the inevitable. Yet we are ALSO being told that our numbers are great enough, and we have enough power, to take the election from Her Majesty and, if she loses, it will be blamed on us.

I wish you people would make up your damn minds.

There's no reason to believe the divisions this time around are less than when HRC ran in 2008, and much that suggests it was greater back then.
