and appoints the person to run it. So the next democratic president will chose. If we lose the election, then the DNC elects. That's how Howard Dean got the job.

Really. He was the vanguard of a insurgent movement, backed by Priebus family money, in the GOP to oust Michael Steele. He'd previously been a vice-chair of the RNC.

A Democratic equivalent would be if someone like Rybak or Gabbard brought a floor motion at the convention to remove the chair from her office, got a second, and then carried the subsequent vote.
