Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick's Racist Slur of President Obama

On Chris Hayes' show, Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, taking issue with the president's support for transgender students to choose the bathroom that fits their gender identity, called Barack Obama, President of the United States, "a black male with 30 pieces of silver." I find that overt racism the most offensive statement by a public official in Texas I've ever heard. We Texas residents knew that Patrick was a religious zealot, but his disrespect of our president is so extreme, I find him totally unfit for office. This right wing extremist language, fostered by the fringe elements of media, has got to be called out. It's had a corrosive, destructive effect on our democracy, and the proof is the candidacy of Donald Trump. The only way I know to combat it is to speak out against it. As Dietrich Bonhoeffer said, "Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act."
