When right wingers lose, they blame it on "Lack of Purity".

Whereas when we on the left lose a battle, we lament the fact that our candidate wasn't conservative enough to "appeal to the middle", OR we blame other candidates for driving us "too far to the left".

Anyone else thing that's a fucked-up mindset on our part, given the current landscape?

Anyone who does what you described is only pretending to be on the left. We on the left either need to kick those people out of our 'big tent' or abandon it and build a fortress somewhere else.
