This man never thought he would be a cat person until a tiny fur baby chose him and changed his life forever.
Marc Nelson found a tiny motherless kitten in Aklan, Philippines.
"I dropped by my neighbor's place and his daughter started telling me how she saw a couple of dogs attack some kittens further down the beach," Marc told Love Meow.
She pulled the dogs away as soon as she could but by then only one kitten survived and ran away.
"I asked her to show me where the kitten was and she took me to the general area, which was amongst the wild coconut trees by the beach. It took me a while to find the kitten as it was getting dark already, but then I heard her meow."
"She was so tiny. A scrawny grey striped thing that could fit in my hand," Marc said.
After many hours of hoping the cat mother would return, there was no sign of her.
"I gathered her up in a towel and brought her to my other neighbor who had recently raised a kitten. She gave me an old box and some infant formula, telling me that she doubled the concentration mix for her kitten. Then it was back to my place and my first night as a cat daddy," Marc told Love Meow.

(6,133 posts)I still like dogs, but over the decades much has changed. I love this story, and I love my cats. And this guy has found a real pal.

(29,503 posts)I recall years ago, in the 90's, buying at the bodega a can of Fancy Feast for a little tiny kitten I had passed by on the street, one night as I was going home. He devoured it, but I wasn't prepared to take it in, even though I just adore cats. Obviously, I'll never know what happened to him because I left him, but I'll always regret that decision. A big regret? A small regret? Who knows, but stories like this make me feel bittersweet - bitter for the cat I didn't save, sweet for the one who was. K&R
