Ben Carson told the Washington Post that former Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin is being considered as Donald Trumps running mate, along with many of the real estate billionaires former challengers.

(880 posts)I believe I just read that Trump denied the report. Sounds like once again he leaks this info, the media spends a couple days talking about it, typically in a negative fashion, and then he denies it.

(1,178 posts)He had no comment re the rest of that stellar group of candidates. Cenk Uygur raised a good point about Trump not picking a qualified veep. If someone like Kasich were the VP, the Republicans could join with Democrats to impeach Trump when he makes the inevitable stupid move so they could get the establishment president they truly want. Now if Palin were the VP, even the Republicans might hesitate. Carson himself would be a better choice for Trump. Unlike the other candidates, no one really hates Carson- he seems like a personable guy when awake. He is even less qualified than Trump for the presidency and would shore up the evangelical vote. Carson might even help solve our poverty and hunger problems by supervising a program to build pyramids to store grain. We could get Egypt to pay for it.
Personally, I'm going to make a reservation for a substance abuse treatment program starting November 9th and am going to spend the next 6 months trying to anaesthetize my brain so I can't see, hear, or feel. The only way I can get through what is looking like a Trump/Clinton campaign....

(12,586 posts)We know her track record for holding public office. Once she finds out how little the VP slot pays compared to her reality shows, speeches and book deals, she'll be on her way.
elljay
(1,178 posts)Worry not. I'm sure she'll pick a "suitable" candidate for her VP- maybe one of the Duck Dynasty clan . This will likely be our first hearing-impaired executive (I can't imagine anyone who can hear being able to last more than five minutes in the room with her without blood spurting from their ears).

(50,557 posts)I think Trump will pick someone who won't upstage him. Palin would do that, so she's out.
With Trump's extensive track record in public service, he will HAVE to choose someone who's in the government as his running mate.

(1,178 posts)which I find disturbing. If they can build a creation theme park with people riding dinosaurs, then a grain-storing pyramid in South Carolina makes perfect sense. I'm feeling like I'm in one of those Star Trek episodes in which one of the characters ends up in some parallel universe, with everything almost the same but not quite.

You think Trump is dumb. I can't disagree. He's amazingly lucky and great self-promoter, but he is not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
Palin isn't even one of the knives. She's a spoon.

I want to see what happens to the fabric of the space-time continuum when one supermassive black hole of narcissism attempts to devour the other supermassive black hole of narcissism.

(11,093 posts)(certainly not mine) would be to make Dick Cheney VP (donning flame suit now). He knows the ins and outs of Washington, the international side, and would run the country while Trump was the frontman, which seems to be the positions each are most comfortable.
But let's not get too hooked on that idea.
And you can stop with the tomatoes already.

(3,562 posts)Then he needs to study history, probably the hey day of the Roman Empire.
If poor Donald selects someone like Palin - it shows a true lack of judgement, especially if the American people put such a combination in the White House. Dumb and Dumber.
But if poor Donald selects an establishment GOP for the role of VP - then the party (if they control the house) will impeach him inside of 6 months, and then everything is okay for the party.
He truly is stuck between a rock and hard place.
The only thing he can really do is select someone from the GOP establishment that the party hates more than him (I am thinking Cruz) and then he might be able to retain his position in the White House if he wins. Of course then, we have a man (that I believe suffers from mental illness) combined with a man that believes in the end times. Maybe Donald isn't screwed, might be us.
Poor baby... He truly should study history.
My thoughts...

(65 posts)Let him pick her! We can't lose if she re-appears in VP form! Although I don't think I can stand hearing her screeching for 6 months. I already can't stand the sound of Herr Drumpf with his constant whining and bragging about how 'smart' he is. Plus, now he's been endorsed by the KKK. What a fun summer, eh?

(5,106 posts)Let this ticket (Trump/Palin) happen! What fun, and would also further the theory that Trump doesn't really want to be president, only wants to prove that he COULD be if he wanted it.

(3,128 posts)The irony is that no matter what he does at this point, including shooting a five-year-old child in broad daylight on 5th Avenue in NYC, will work. People are disgusted, hurting, and angry. They want change at any cost. And sometimes the Devil you know is more repugnant than the Devil who is ambiguous.
