This is why we need Medicare for all.

Thousands flood free medical clinic in Los Angeles

(snip)

Jessie Agbunat has been putting off surgery to remove a benign growth on her shoulder for five years. Dr. Chris Lewis removed it in 20 minutes in a makeshift operating room on the floor of the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Agbunat said her state-subsidized insurance plan comes with high deductibles and co-pays.

"Thousands, yeah, it's thousands," Agbunat said.

When Dr. Lewis founded the traveling, free clinic in 2014, he anticipated a different clientele.

"I expected to see a lot more homeless people and people with no insurance at all, and to find out that the majority had insurance but couldn't afford their co-payment or deductible, that was surprising," Lewis said.

Negrete isn't surprised at all. She's had more failures than successes with her insurance. She's currently facing $18,000 dollars in unexpected medical bills from the birth of her son, which she thought would be covered.

Some 4,300 volunteers who put on the two-and-a-half day clinic will treat 10,000 patients, giving away $30 million in medical services -- a temporary solution to a much bigger problem.

Thousands line up for free dental care in downtown OKC

Thousands lined up at Oklahoma City's Cox Convention Center for some much needed dental care during the Oklahoma Mission of Mercy.

A thousand patients and hundreds of dentists with one mission. With gear in hand, the dentists were prepared for the big day. Many Oklahomans are without dental insurance which is why dentists like Dr. Shannon Griffin donate their time.

Sharon Smith drove all the way from Muldrow with her daughter.

"We sat out in the cold for three hours before they let us in," Smith said.

Smith's daughter was in need of dental care.

"She's gotta have four root canals and I can't afford that...It would be $7,000 and this helps a little bit," Smith said.

Furthermore dental care should be an automatic for any health care coverage, you can't logically separate the two as poor dental care can and will lead to other health problems including heart disease.

And now of course you have, in addition to the republicans, millions of DINOs who insist that we must pay billions in profits to get healthcare.

a for profit "health" insurance industry in the U.S. every dollar they make in profit takes away from actual health care.

they think. "Sorry, but incremental changes might help her in 2020." "Medicare for all might cut into the profits of Goldman-Sachs and we cant have that."

health care -- not mandatory insurance, but genuine care for all -- has no business claiming to be a Democrat.

When I hear Hillary talk about expanding the present giveaway to the insurance industry, my blood boils. Premiums are rising. Co-pays are rising. Deductibles are rising. What the hell good is having health insurance if it's too expensive to use?

A ex-friend, an m.d., volunteers for them. Sadly, our friendships ended over my arguing politics with his wife, a crazy republican.

Some people can't put 2 and 2 together. It's so sad.

14. In our lawsuit happy society I'm surprised any medical provider would risk this.

It's a shame we even have to say it but I'm waiting for the inevitable lawsuit against a doctor providing free care who didn't do it well enough (a lawsuit that of course completely ignores the fact that these procedures are being performed in convention halls).

No good deed goes unpunished in lawsuit happy American society.

in exchange for free care. Lawyers might be able try find a way around that but the free doctors lawyers probably have it pretty well covered.
