Clyburn’s Citadel Confederate flag fight to rekindle

... U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn — South Carolina’s only Democrat in Congress and the highest-ranking black lawmaker on Capitol Hill — is continuing to push for a vote on his amendment to the House’s fiscal 2017 Defense bill to ban ROTC funds from any military academy that flies the flag.
The amendment, which was thwarted in the House Armed Services Committee last month, doesn’t mention The Citadel by name, but most agree it’s the only institution left that fits this description.
