Their newest foster bro is a puppy called Potato. He was one of seven 5-week-old puppies taken from their mum to be sold at a pet store. He and his siblings had wounds, worms, mange and fleas. They were also weak and dehydrated. But as you can see from these adorable pictures, Pikelet and Patty Cakes are determined to help him recover with some good old-fashioned fraternal love. Anybody who thinks that man is a dogs best friend only needs to look at this wonderful trio to understand that a dogs best friends are actually Pikelet and Patty Cakes!

(1,245 posts)We have a fawn that looks a lot like the one in the picks ... a rescue my wife got as a puppy, now 9yo ... sweetest and gentlest baby dog you'd ever wanna meet. So sensitive and smart. We've been nursing him back from an ACL tear, he's almost all bettah.

(5,141 posts)But when they first started. I got mine 2 hours before she was scheduled to be put down. Never had one before but I am in love with them now. My little girl is sweet, affectionate, cuddly and adorable...and comically terrified of my 3 cats.

(11,065 posts)I was concerned about their devastation when someone was going to eventually have to take away a rotting potato they'd adopted as their buddy.

(205,503 posts)This is my dog, a pretty good lap size. I always had cocker spaniels, but a Brussels Griffon found me. He turned me into a small dog person.

(16,926 posts)Molly is one of our three adoptees, and we're her 3rd or 4th owners. I don't know what happened with the first few, but she's in her forever home now.

(205,503 posts)Sounds like you're much like me. I have mostly adopted older dogs, and they seem to find me. I hope to give them a happy ending to some sad stories. They break my heart...
A vet tech who used to work for my vet was helping to foster him and she knew my other Griff (who I adopted at age 9, his person had died) so contacted me about Jack. He was a pet shop dog that couldn't be sold because he had a health problem - a hernia that was repaired when he was neutered. He was only five months and I wasn't used to a puppy, LOL, but he just turned 10, hard to believe... And he's a good traveler.
