I get that he is desperate. I don't get why he thinks this helps him.

Other than that I think it's just a desperation driven move to try and gain some attention and remain relevant in a contest that's rapidly passing him by.

He's been irrelevant for quite a while now but he seems to have the delusion that he has a chance. So he figures, might as well say more stupid shit and include a known pathological liar and horrible business person to back his idiocy up.

The fact that he is getting this air time is stunning, but even more stunning is the delusion crowd whooping and hollering and carrying on like he's saying logical things.
