So lemme get this straight. Martha Stewart went to prison for some bullshit insider trading beef.

And Hastert gets two years PROBATION for hiding millions from the feds to pay hush money for diddling boys while he was a teacher.

Yeah.

Right.

EDIT-Now reporting he got 15 months in prison.

Lest you misread. I know Hastert was sentenced for the money, not for the diddling.

After a highly publicized six-week jury trial, Stewart was found guilty in March 2004 of felony charges of conspiracy, obstruction of an agency proceeding, and making false statements to federal investigators, and was sentenced in July 2004 to serve a five-month term in a federal correctional facility and a two-year period of supervised release (to include five months of electronic monitoring).

Bacanovic and Waksal were also convicted of federal charges and sentenced to prison terms. Stewart also paid a fine of $30,000.

so he could pick his victims.

And he gets 2 years 'supervised' probation and has to participate in a 'sexual offender' program. And the GOPers put this monster 2nd in line to be Pretzeldente for many many years. And he had enough wealth to offer to pay millions to one of his accusers- probably still has enough wealth. And his bugman friend calls him a man of Gawd.

The TWO AMERICA'S SELECTIVE ENFORCEMENT at it's finest.

Don't forget Tommy Chong.

That's why blanket surveillance of the entire population is un-American; once the government determines your a pest that needs to be silenced, they can scrutinize your entire NSA archives and dredge up any misjudgment you ever made in your life, and, frankly, in life, almost all of us cheat or do something illegal some time!

Fortunately for my self preservation, I know my place as a modern post middle age struggling to survive contemplating suicide American wage slave. I'm off the Oligarch's radar and as important to them as the last insect that hit their windshield.

EDIT: He's been sentenced to prison. Good. Didn't Tom Delay also get sentenced, but never actually went? Ankle bracelet at home or some other much less severe penance? I'll be glad when the day comes when he's marched in and serves his 18 months in a for profit correctional institution. FOR PROFIT!

<snip>
Calling Dennis Hastert a "serial child molester," a judge sentenced the former House speaker to 15 months in prison for paying $1.7 million in hush money to cover up sexual abuse from his days as a teacher and wrestling coach.

U.S. District Judge Thomas Durkin said his sentence would have been longer if not for Hastert's age and health. "This is not meant to be a death sentence," he said. Hastert is 74.

The sentence was handed down after Hastert admitted publicly for the first time that he sexually abused athletes while he was a wrestling coach at Yorkville High School. After Hastert admitted he had "mistreated" some athletes, the judge asked him if he sexually abused them.

Yes, Hastert answered.

He got away with the diddling, as you say. But he should have told the FBI he was being blackmailed when they asked what he was doing with his money. When you have to choose between bad and worse, always choose bad -- especially if you're second in line to the presidency.
