so I had no dog in the fight but I was hoping for a more colorful and gender equal Senate. Isn't he the incumbent?

13. No incumbent. It was Barbara Mikulski's seat.

Both Edwards and Van Hollen were in Congress. IMO Van Hollen will make the more effective Senator.

6. Edwards couldn't get the support of the CBC and apparently

she had a political relationship problem. Maryland state DEMS put their weight behind Van Hollen who was definitely my first choice.

11. Donna Edwards didn't play the waiting game and made some non-friends along the way.

Most notably, she never won over the Congressional Black Caucus starting when she unseated an incumbent CBC member to win her seat.

That's all a shame, too. She would have been a good senator, bringing a different perspective to that body.

Van Hollen will win the seat in a walk. Fortunately, he'll be okay, too, if not made a liiiiitle too establishment and too DLC.
