(4,528 posts)and I couldn't sleep and the news came on my transistor radio. I was in shock. How the world would be different if he lived. No Nixon No reagan No Bush

(21,478 posts)Gene McCarthy supporter who kind of resented Bobby jumping in after New Hampshire. That morning, I was getting ready for school and turned on the TV (Today Show) to see what happened, and they had a tape of Bobby giving his victory speech ("Now it's on to Chicago. . ." . Then the anchor came on, saying, "And that was moments before he was shot. . ." I screamed. Another moment I will never, ever forget. Unfortunately.
There's been too many, and our side is almost always on the losing end.

I put on my morning radio station and heard the news.
Ran in and woke my husband and we were both stunned.
It was an awful year, just awful.

(3,111 posts)Think of everything that would have been different if Bobby Kennedy had lived...
It's overwhelming to think of it, his heartfulness along with his toughness.
I miss him still.
Problem is, does his death, as well as that of others, prove that assassinations work?
When I question why we don't have anybody courageous enough to be mistaken for Bobby anymore I wonder (and this includes President Obama) "Do they simply not want to meet the same end?"
Unacceptable.
As Langson Hughes said, "Let America be America again. Let it be the dream it used to be...From those who live like leeches on the peoples lives, We must take back our land again, America!"
Bobby! Rest in peace. And know that so many of us loved you and loved what you stood for. And we love you still.
