In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Nadya Tolokonnikova of Russian political punk band Pussy Riot compared Donald Trump to Vladimir Putin. The comments arrived after the U.S. presidential candidate told Republican voters he would "get along very well" with the Russian President. Putin would later return the compliment, calling Trump "a very bright and talented man."
The comparison clearly struck a chord with Tolokonnikova, who told RS, "I see similarities between Trump and Putin because they both like to provoke the audience." She then went into detail on the idea of provocation:
"Artists and punks and musicians should provoke the audience, and politicians should serve the public interest. ... It's not their role to express their individuality, to do crazy gestures like Trump and Putin are doing."
She referred to Trump's candidacy as a joke, saying, "I think that he probably could be not-bad comedian, but he couldn't be politician," then adding, "I think it will be a disaster if Trump will win the election. I will try to do what I can to prevent it."
As for Trump and Putin's future? Nadya has plans for that too:
"If they want to just fire themselves for the presidency and just go to Hawaii and spend their good time, I would love to support them. Yes. Go for it. But I don't want to see two dangerous clowns as presidents of big countries."
