This is magic right here, especially the sing-along at the end ... finally had me in the tears I've been holding back ...
Guess I'm still not over it ...
RIP Beautiful One ...

(1,245 posts)You probably recall that Born in the USA and Purple Rain were battling it out for Billboard's #1 spot for like 6 months straight ... Bruce would release a single, like Glory Days, then Born would move back to 1, then Prince would release a single like "I Would Die 4U" and PR would move to #1, etc ... I absolutely loved both albums at the time, so ... didn't really care which one was 'winning' as they were clearly both such brilliant pieces of work ...

(1,245 posts)Granted there's dupes as people grab versions of the same song from different albums ...
I admit to being a tiny bit disappointed to not see two from my top 10 ... "I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man" and "Let's Pretend We're Married", which I must insist are two of his greatest songs ... Also sad to see that his legitimate 90's renaissance of Symbol Album, Gold Experience, and Emancipation ... haven't made the top 100 albums this week.
People missed out on those 3, they're actually brilliant esp. the Symbol one (with My Name is Prince, Sexy MF, and 7, and many other classics). 7 is the only song from that era on the top 100 songs.
That's too bad, IMHO.
NOT TO MENTION Sign O' The Times ... NOT in the top 100? C'mon ... it's pretty much his most universally critically-acclaimed album ... people are missin' out, man.
Of the itunes hot 100 tracks, it looks like 'Sometimes it Snows In April' and 'Gett Off' are the only two that didn't make my list, or my HM. Both good songs, esp. the former ... I should've had that one in my list, in fact ... but ... I was happy to see some (slightly) more obscure stuff like Insatiable, Adore, 7, If I Was Your Girlfriend, Pop Life, and Do Me Baby ...
EDIT: that was meant to be a reply to the iTunes comment, oops ...
