Hey I'm John and I love music. I myself play guitar and was wondering if anyone on DU plays guitar? If so what are the guitars you guys and gals have in your rig? Feel free to post pics of your instruments.
I play a:
1997 Gibson explorer (my favorite got it in Ithaca)
Metallic gold Gibson DG 335 (basically a trini lopez)
1990s Gibson sg
I wil post pics of my guitars in the thread

(8,879 posts)I currently play a partscaster built from parts I liked. I also play Yamaha AES 620. The only guitar I ever regret selling was my 2001 sg. I let it go around christmas. I pawned it and just couldn't come up with the money to buy it back. It was my favorite.

(2,550 posts)My first and only guitar.
I'm not very good, I pick it up maybe once every 6 months and strum C, D, G or some Blink 182....and of course...the song everybody learns...stairway to heaven.
No pics right now, out of town at work until Tuesday.

The thread we're currently in might get locked by a host because the GD Statement of Purpose states: Discuss politics, issues, and current events. "Anyone play guitar" doesn't really fit any of those.

(9,958 posts)I've got a 2013 Gibson Les Paul Studio model with a faded cherry finish, a black American-made 2014 Fender Stratocaster with a humbucker, and an Alvarez electric/acoustic.
The only other decent guitar I've owned was a 1983 Gibson The Paul with a natural gloss finish.
I used to own some loud amplifiers in the past: a 130 watt Peavey Heritage 2x12 and a 50 watt Gallien-Krueger amplifier that I used with a Peavey 2x12 cabinet. (Both were contributors to my tinnitus.)
I used an ART SGE (which I still have) that had left and right outputs, so I would split the signal and send it to both amps placed on opposite sides of the room. Pretty cool with panning effects.
Right now, I'm using a small, 40 watt Blackstar amp.

(19,374 posts)Own several guitars including a '94 40th Anniversary Stratocaster that I play through a Peavy Delta blues tube amp. My main gigging rig is an American Standard Deluxe Jazz Bass V that I play through a Super Bassman head with a Neo 410 and 115 underneath. Nothing beats all tube amplification for my taste.
Love your Gibsons BTW. Just played at blues jam last week with a guy on an Explorer. He was playing it through a vintage Fender Deluxe and man it sounded fine!
