Tributes from Prince's peers

Meanwhile Nile Rodgers said there were "tears and love" on his band's tour bus after learning the news of their friend's death.

"#RIP our dearly beloved #Prince," the Chic singer wrote. "Tears and love on our tour bus. @CHICorg @nilerodgers I'll never forget my brother. We've had good times."

When I saw that short tribute from Nile Rodgers I thought about that cool bass guitar great Bernard Edwards.
They were partners.

Bernard did not wake up the next after feeling ill during a performance while touring in Japan in 1996. He played on and that was his last performance. He died on April 18 1996 - almost exactly 20 years to Prince's death. I saw Bernard Edwards live before he was well established - in the Bahamas. The band was backing up New York City. I never saw Prince live.

Lots of overlaps with artistes connected to Prince and the Nile - Bernard team.
