(24,411 posts)Oresident Obama is such a good guy. Love that smile. He's great with kids because he's such a great dad.
And George is one adorable little boy!

(2,188 posts)She can't live forever. She'll all but certainly pass in the next 15 years. Normally, I'd say 10, but she is in great shape with top health care, combined with genes of long-living, like her mum (died at 103 I think).

Edit: well I just found out the kid's not so much regular people, but it's very cute.

I would LOVE to sit down on a cozy couch and have coffee and too many glasses of wine with the Obamas.

(23,156 posts)He is truly amazing. He can make babies stop crying. Little kids just adore him. He's a total natural. And that's a rare trait in a mam. And only a little less rare in women.
William likewise looks quite comfortable, which he should, since the little one is his own son.

That being said, I had a dog who was so bonkers that when one of my workers came in the front door, she would go ballistic and try to bite him. When he came in the back door, she was just fine and he was her best friend.
*sigh*

(424 posts)I enjoyed that.
My cats know me no matter what. My dog thinks I'm a stranger he has to back out of the house if I put a hat on.

(23,156 posts)Almost always dogs are trustworthy assessors of human characters. But sometimes they get it wrong. In that case, turn to cats.
I happen to be a cat person myself, but some years back I did volunteer work at my local animal shelter. I worked weekends, and in the very small facility there, the dog walkers had to bring the dogs by me to take them outside. I was struck by the fact that every single dog wanted to greet every single human they came in contact with. It was such a clear demonstration of how long humans and canines have been together. It made me appreciate dogs far more than I ever had before, and I'm glad of that.

(1,232 posts)fire. The wild dogs would stay close for the scraps and bones. It served the humans well for disposing of the 'trash' and thus the relationship began, apparently. I've been writing an article on dogs and humans, and it's a very cool history. While it can only be speculated upon how the relationship evolved and how the different breeds evolved, the different theories are fascinating.
I'm a dog person. I appreciate cats, but dogs.... my life is empty without one by my side.

(154,021 posts)I don't think the kid will remember for starters, and in fifty years that kid will be living in a world very different from this one. One in the midst of some very serious climate change. Take my word on this, that photo will not be that important in 50 years, Nor will I be here to be proven right or wrong.
What that world will have, is people, blaming rightfully so, the current generations and it's leaders for mostly cosmetic action, and I am assuming the great population collapse has not started.
