Samantha Bee hit back on the NRA again tonight, this time hitting on their silly regulation of their stupid Eddie Eagle mascot.
After seeing how mockable the Eddie Eagle costume was, Bee set about the task of getting one. And that's where the trouble began.
"But it turned out the organization that makes it easier to get a gun than Sudafed, makes it nearly impossible to acquire their giant dancing eagle," Bee lamented.
Her first task was to complete the NRA's 18-page costume application, which includes 36 rules and regulations which Bee interprets as their way to keep her from "living out her eagle-taunting fantasies."
You'll be shocked to discover there's a mandatory waiting period before that costume could get to her, assuming she was approved to get one in the first place. TWENTY DAYS!
However, while discovering Eddie's trademark was locked down tight so a used Eddie costume was out of the question, she was able to buy a gun online from Armslist.com without any wait at all!

Glad this issue is at the forefront of the Dem. primary agenda. Such an enormous contrast with the NRA-subsidized Repubs.

(13,340 posts).... and some folks think you can just order a gun online and they ship it to you. That only happens if the gun question was made in 1898 or before, or if it is classified as a "curio and relic" and you have the appropriate license from the ATF. Otherwise, the gun must be shipped to a licensed gun dealer. You have to go the NICS background check, and the gun is subject to any local wait periods or restrictions. And, of course, the local gun dealer charges you a fee. In other words, buying a gun online does not remove or eliminate any restrictions that you would be subject to in buying a gun locally.
It is amusing that the NRA requires a waiting period for their stupid eagle costume.

(12,194 posts)Federal law says I have to pass one to buy a gun from a Dealer. Sudafed, not so much.

I think it's adorable that she put so much effort into trying to mock and trivialize something that has the express purpose of teaching children about gun safety though. You really showed them!
Tipping point indeed.
