A Museum 'Hired' A Cat As A Prank, And It Looks Like They Have No Choice But To Keep Him Employed

Source: Distractify

It's impossible to use the internet and not love cats. Like this little guy, Maray, who enjoys hanging out at the Museum of History and Art in Serpukhov, Russia.

The museum staff fell in love with Maray because he kicks ass and in 2014, they took him in. He became the Museum's mascot and greeter.

The Museum staff thought a great April Fool's joke would be to submit a fake job application on behalf of Maray. They even issued a press release to local media saying they hired the kitty.

Of course, he signed his application letter with a paw-print, this is an adorable cat we're talking about here, after all. The letter also references the former owner of the Museum's building, (who Maray is named after), because they were total cat-lovers:

Application. As I am a direct relative of [Anna] Maraeva, I ask you to give me a job in your museum. Maray The Cat.

But the joke backfired. The media ended up contacting the Museum asking about the employment status of Maray.

That's when the staff realized they couldn't back out of the joke. So they offered Maray a 9-5 position as their official 'doorcat.' He even gets lunch breaks and his own little tent, too.

I know it is off topic, but have you ever found if it was all a joke or not. It seems that it was according to some things I have read, but the pictures were so fun...I love the fluffy orange cat that looks like a monster with his/her fangs showing standing on its back feet.

We have one as fat as that. Her sister (we call her because they are both tortoiseshells, but of different moms), is skinny and small. They do everything together including eat. One is 6-7 pounds, the other, we try to keep under twenty. It's not easy.
