Most people who'd vote for Clinton would do so because they want to defeat Trump, not because they actually want to elect her, according to a new McClatchy-Marist poll.
And most of those who'd vote for Trump would do it because they want to defeat Clinton, not because they like Trump.
The winner? He or she is likely to begin the presidential term without the usual honeymoon period.
"The winner would wind up one of the least popular presidents" to take office in recent times, said Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist Institute for Public Opinion in New York, which conducted the nationwide poll.

So no matter what, we are going to elect someone who most of this country hates.

When she was SOS her approval ratings were very high...but now after the non-stop focus on the non-scandals enabled by the leftists d-bag press, of course they go down...people are fickle.

(6,342 posts)While she was Secretary of State...Libya became a mess. Syria became a mess. Egypt became a mess. And the "reset" with Russia was a disaster.
In contrast, John Kerry is blowing her out of the water. The Iran deal alone gives Kerry the win.

(56,177 posts)And also get out of the Bernie echo chamber...you can place most of that blame on Bush and it tells you the level of hatred and inability to see straight fostered by Bernie supporters now that Bush's messes have someone become HIllary's

(58,724 posts)She also appointed more female ambassadors than any SOS in the history of the US.
She also focussed on addressing issues of hunger worldwide before they reached crisis levels (proactive rather than reactive).
Her focus on women's issues and on world hunger were paradigm-shifiing.
She personally advocated for bringing cookstoves to poor countries so that they could prepare food more efficiently and in an environmentally cleaner manner (100 million of these stoves were distributed worldwide).
She made LGBT rights a focus of US foreign policy and promoted such rights in countries that were less than friendly to this issue.
She promoted internet access worldwide and called out various countries, including China, for their censorship of the web.
She also helped repair relationships with countries around the world that were damaged by the Bush administration's approach to diplomacy (or lack thereof).

(30,151 posts)The only difference is the level of fuckedness people are feeling-
Democrats are just a little bit fucked with our choices-
Republicans are completely fucked over and over raw with what they got

(1,825 posts)...that the Republican establishment will cheat The Donald & wind up giving the nomination to Cruz.
And duplicitous Hillary is NOT guaranteed victory against Cruz.

(1,858 posts)Maybe he will encourage enough people to write him in if he isn't on the ballot.
Herman4747
(1,825 posts)...if he winds up with say 1,120 delegates or so and the Republican establishment denies him the nomination. He hates Ted Cruz anyway. Moreover, even in places where he can't get on the ballot, he could have his rabid partisans write in his name on the ballot.
Sometimes I wonder if he got into this whole thing just to mess up the GOP.
