The StompDrumpfers are getting their game on.
No matter what anyone says now about endorsements, those who hated Cruz still do.
If Ryan goes for it, he's dumber than I thought. "Hi! I'm the best they could do! Settle for MEEEEE!" He's too young to shitcan his career now.
Mitt is still looking for work, so I don't count him out. He really wants to still matter, poor guy.
Beyond these goofballs . . . . . I got nuttin'.
Any other ideas?
Boehner? Boehner?

(4,858 posts)...he's tried four times before, and is battle-tested in the GOP wars. The fact that he died in 1953 would usually be a handicap...but not in the GOP world of 2016. After all, if a Repub Congressman can seriously state that Scalia should be given a vote on the USSC even though he's dead...can we do any less for "Mr Republican"?

(1,033 posts)he is about to win a bunch of delegates. As much of a trainwreck as it's become, the Republicans won't make some radical jump to keep him from the nomination if he has the delegates.
The Democrats will EASILY win the WH in 2016. I hope it carries over to the Senate. I don't think it will flip the House.

(67,799 posts)It serves little to no purpose in the modern cyber world and at this point in time is almost like a cyber tic. It happens. Its harmless, but also a little off putting.
But if you feel it helps, have at it.

(5,790 posts)It won't be Jeb. Jeb will either retire from politics or run for the Senate in Florida. (Veep maybe?)
It won't be Rubio, who will most likely run for Governor of Florida in 2018. This will be in preparation to run for Prez in 2024 or 2028.
I think the RNC types want Ryan: he's young, he can say insane things without sounding insane, and he's a budget wonk in an era in which GOP voters are continuing to grouse about federal spending. That said, unless they literally sit him down and give him the "there's no one else and the country depends on you" speech, he won't do it. I think he knows that whoever wins this slot is a 1-termer (regardless of party).
Kasich is hoping to emerge as the compromise pick at a brokered convention. He can probably deliver Ohio (the GOP must win Ohio and Florida to have any chance), and he is good at sounding sane while being about as far right as Franco.
I think it will be Kasich.

(12,388 posts)the wheels flew off that car long ago. They have been floating on ego fumes for months, with no end in sight. I can honestly see all of them arriving in DC on Inauguration Day, ready to claim their win. Can you envision Trump admitting defeat?
Rex
(65,616 posts)No, Trump would never admit to it. Even as they are swearing in HRC or Sanders, Trump will be there ready to sueeeee!!!!

(15,139 posts)because he's not quite as extreme and scary as Trump and Cruz, they'll have to go with a bonafide wingnut in the VP spot to try to pacify all the pissed Trump and Cruz supporters. If Trump is denied, though, I can easily see him bolting the convention and running as an Independent. He is a major pain in the Repuke Party's ass. Good.

(14,308 posts)when the current rules say only they can be nominated.
The delegates will be overwhelmingly either Cruz or Trump delegates. Why would they vote to amend the rules to allow others to be nominated?
MY guess is Trump gets close enough that he offers VP to Rubio or Kasich and that puts him over the hump.

(9,899 posts)He his articulate, both he and his family are photogenic, the son I believe is a naval officer. He is a true blue conservative, and when he opens his mouth, he sounds reasonably sane.
Kasich represents what the GOP needs right now, but is damaged goods for this season, mostly because he looks weak trying to ride out the primary season in the hope of backdooring the nomination via a contested convention.
The Repubs need a reasonable looking, sounding, and speaking show pony to save their down ticket. He is far enough removed from this years spectacle, and was never really in the national spotlight as a loser, like R-money was last cycle.
It will be him, or someone very much like him.
