Tattooed vet gets 4 years in prison for running Miami Molly ring

Highlights:

In all, 8 people involved in the importing of synthetic drugs from China were sentenced Monday

The ringleader was Jorge Hernandez, whose military service swayed the judge to be more lenient

The judge heard a long list of bad stuff about Jorge Hernandez, the heavily tattooed, bodybuilding ex-U.S. Army soldier who ran one of the largest Molly drug rings in Miami history.

Three beautiful women, his ex-lovers facing prison time themselves, blamed Hernandez for fueling their drug addictions while convincing them to help smuggle in kilos of the synthetic drug from China. Two of them accused him of physical and psychological abuse.

One of his buddies insisted he helped Hernandez only to partake in the lifestyle of night clubs, porn stars and luxury rides.

But once he was caught, Hernandez proved to be an ace undercover operative – making drug deals that helped agents bust 13 other people. “The best I’ve seen in my experience,” federal prosecutor Marton Gyires told the judge on Monday during his sentencing.

That cooperation, combined with Hernandez’s impressive service in the military– he served in Iraq and Afghanistan as an Arabic-speaking translator – persuaded U.S. District Judge Federico Moreno to shave some time off what could have been a sentence of at least 10 years in prison. The end result: Hernandez, 37, will serve only four years.

What does the tattoos or the fact he was a veteran have to do with anything ?
Normal newspeak that all tattoo'd persons are drug kingpins ?
Or, all US Army veterans turn to a life of crime back in civilian life ?

Kinda reminescant of the 70's where all stories of any crime involving a vet was termed 'vietnam vet' or 'rampaging vet'
to point out the dangers returning Vietnam veterans posed. Same stuff, different century I guess.

8 Plead Guilty in Major Synthetic Drug Ring in Miami

Eight people have pleaded guilty in a major synthetic drug ring in Miami.

The Miami Herald reports 37-year-old Jorge Ramon Hernandez and seven others pleaded guilty Monday to conspiring to traffic drugs.
Authorities say Hernandez, who spearheaded the ring, faces up to 15 years behind bars for importing the party drug Molly from Chinese chemical labs. Prosecutor Marton Gyires said Hernandez admitted to importing up to 120 kilos of Molly through the U.S. mail and laundering more than half a million dollars.

Matthew Anich admitted to his role in the ring. He's now serving prison time.

Attorney Michael Rosen says his client, Mario Melton, wasn't part of the drug-dealing conspiracy and will go to trial next month. Melton is accused of receiving packages of Molly and steroids at his grandfather's business.
