subjugate women. Religion is just the way to organize society based upon the supposed highest authority - God. Control of women was essential because they are something to be feared. Their intuition is frightening and their intimate knowledge of the husband can serve as a threat if not controlled. Making the woman responsible for original sin takes care of all those problems.

Fundamentalists believe it is their divine right and duty to control women but their real reason for doing so is fear.
