The pilot was Yankees and former Mets pitcher Cory Lidle. I remember it well because I was at Mom and Republican Stepdad's place a couple of blocks away. I was dozing off on a gray afternoon when I heard this BOOM! and then sirens all over the place.

Amazingly, no one except Lidle and his flight instructor was killed!
