Donald Trump and Senator Ted Cruz have both stated that, if elected president, they will deport 11 million illegal immigrants. I've always thought that the logistics of finding, arresting, housing and feeding, trying in courts and then transporting that many people would be impossible. Analogies about the Holocaust come to mind. Of course, the Nazis didn't respect any legal or human rights.

It's baffling that Mr. Trump's and Senator Cruz's followers haven't thought out any of the absurdities of these candidates' ideas.

(11,619 posts)"Operation Wetback" (1953-1958) has been used as a model by Trump. Yes, it would be difficult and expensive, but it has been tried before. If we use the "War on Drugs" as an example, monstrously expensive, civil rights violating programs can be quite popular and last for a long time. A Republican Congress will not hesitate to create and fund such a program, no matter how much damage in human terms.
