This format seems to push incumbents. The fear of two opposition candidates in the general reinforces the known quantity and/or the establishment preferred candidate on each side.

I'm thinking you guys made a failing system worse. The primaries can no longer effectively be used as an outlet to deal with differences within the parties unless the opposition is such a minority that they can't always expect to field a candidate.

Thanks. I hope you are well.

In my opinion, voting is an exercise in futility, but I did it anyway. I'm really not sure why.

I no longer hope for audacity. In fact, I stopped hoping for audacity long before most of DU. Things got nasty. I left.

It was the best thing I ever did for my relationship with my religious Republican family. Family is more important than politics / religion because blood really is thicker than water. I've found I can only rely on family to help me when I am sick. Most people will only love / help blood relatives no matter what party they adhere to. It's a biological imperative.

In the end, my 12,000+ posts here mean(t) nothing, except that I learned politics = bullshit waste of time. George Carlin was right.

Again, I really do wish you all well, but I think many of you may be agitating yourselves over nothing. I honestly don't think we can bring about change. Banging our heads against a virtual wall is hurting us and changing nothing. Of course, this may not be true for the more thick-skinned among you, but for those of you who feel angst, leaving DU may help you feel better.

Just a thought.

I'm throwing it out there for those who may be feeling despair. Leaving DU won't fix everything in your life, but it will help you feel less stress over things you can't change. Big hugs to everyone: those who will fight on and anyone who has left or will leave because of stress.

Good luck to all.

I bid you adieu.

Had I really thought it through, I probably would have held my nose and voted for Feinstein. We could end up with two Republicans, worst case.

Feinstein is a shoe-in and Taitz would propel the senate campaign into a national referendum on birtherism.
