Dear John Hagee: Kiss my blasphemous, atheistic ass, and YOU GET OUT!

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/06/05/1097604/-John-Hagee-tells-atheists-to-get-out-and-wants-Congress-to-shred-the-First-Amendment

[div class="excerpt"John Hagee tells atheists to get out and wants Congress to shred the First Amendment

Last Sunday, John Hagee gave a sermon that is absolutely staggering, even by his standards. He not only called for atheists and other non-Christians to pack up and leave if they didn't like the fact that this is a "Christian nation," but also effectively called for Congress to tell our troops that the First Amendment doesn't apply to them.

People For the American Way got clips of the sermon here.

While telling atheists to "get out!" is standard issue for the San Antonio Ayatollah, his demand for Congress to outlaw "witchcraft and Satanism" in the military is breathtaking even by his standards. Hagee is now officially on record as wanting to shred the First Amendment.

Tell you what, Hagee, since you love theocracy so much, why don't you move to a theocracy. Like Iran, or Saudi Arabia, or Taliban-controlled areas of Afghanistan. There's theocracy for you! You'd fit right in!

But if you want me to get out, FORCE ME! And don't think I wouldn't use force right back at any fundie dumbfuck who made the mistake of trying to force his Bronze Age fairy tales down my throat, or tried to force me out of MY FUCKING HOME because he doesn't like my disbelief.

I'm not leaving. Don't like freedom of religion or freedom from religion? YOU GET OUT! Freedom is incompatible with your bullshit.

So Hagee, take your narcissistic, psychopathic, multiple-personality, bigoted, violent, misogynistic, homophobic imaginary sky-daddy of yours and shove him up your ass!

a) he's not a real Christian. That senior pastor job and the degree from the endorsed theological school of a 3 million-plus Christian denomination are just fronts.

b) he's just a tiny ignored fundy fringe. The 160 TV channels and 50 radio stations don't really show that people listen to him

c) the vast majority of Christians are diametrically opposed to Hagee; loving tolerant fans of universal salvation who don't think atheists should or will burn in hell or that the US is a Christian nation. It's just our imagination that they never seem willing to say so outside obscure leftist websites and they have literally dozens of examples of spokespeople for these views every bit as high-profile as Hagee.... that they won't share with atheists because we are mean to them on those same leftist websites.

So there!

I cannot say what will happen on judgment day but your statement "We will not miss you" suggests you have never read or at least understood Jesus' words. Jesus' message was one of inclusion. Paul's inclusion of the Gentiles dispels the concept of "we won't miss you".

This lard-ass is another example of stupidity. He is not a Christian. He is a charlatan, in this for the money and nothing else.

I suggest he consider, as others have, that he move to Iran or Afghanistan where religious belief is law. He probably won't be able to worship Jesus as he does today but since he doesn't know what the man said, what would be the difference. He would be able rail against people he dislikes and that is part and parcel of the Xtian right.

at Hagee's feet for his endorsement. McCain only repudiated it after a sermon Hagee preached about how Hitler and the Holocaust were part of God's plan to get the Jews back to Israel and to remove the Palestinians from the area came to light.

He is just stupid - but also dangerous - because he might be able to lure others to do, what he say he want to do - but is not able, or willing to do... And the US have a lot of extremist, who would marsh if they ever was given the order to do.... And it sounds like the extremist, the american taliban if so be, want to roll back hundreds of years worth of progress - to try to show down everyones troath a view of the world no one longer hold... They might look "not dangerous" at all, but they do are...

And the fact that this person should have said, that Hitler was given us by God, to punish jews, is telling most of about what he is about...

I for one say, I do not know what will become of "sinners".. But one thing is sure, if/when we came to heaven, we would be surprised how many "sinners" it will be there to great me when I arrive...

I believe that religion isn't just false, but downright dangerous.

Religion can be used to manipulate people, control people, and it is mind-bogglingly effective at moral inversion - making people think that evil and destructive acts are good. Hagee's latest outburst is but one example - he stands in his pulpit and demonizes a group of people (granted, I'm a member of that group), and he uses his position as a "man of God" to give that position legitimacy, and to get people to actually support depriving atheists of their civil rights.

Some people are assholes. Some people aren't. That's kind of how I see it. You can't fix stupid and you can't fix sanctimonious assholery, no matter where it comes from.

So...he's ONE nitwit. Why are you offering more power to him than his words merit?

You don't broad-brush about everyone because ONE nitwit makes an ass of himself. You don't broad-brush even if hundreds of nitwits make asses of themselves.

It's like quoting those Tea Party assholes and coming to the faulty conclusion that all human beings--bar none-- are horrible creatures not worthy of drawing another breath, simply because a subset of 'em are assholes.

You're going to meet jerks in this world. Refute them on the merits of their stupid arguments, don't broad-brush. Otherwise, the implication is that your arguments are weak, even when they are not.

Like I have said, and I will say again, you'd never hear that shit from MLK had he lived, or many other "people of faith"--ever. It wouldn't enter their heads to be that hateful. Or stupid.

is from MLK. From his book "Stride Toward Freedom" 1958 p. 210

The second is from Hagee, and not particularly offensive either, as it is demonstrated here that a belief in God, all by itself, DOES offend some people.

By which I mean my own belief in God, not Hagee's.

50. You do not HAVE to "own" everything that people say.
Fri Jun 8, 2012, 01:57 PM
Jun 2012

You also need to consider the context, the purpose, and the audience.

Context is everything.

If a minister is telling a dying person that they will find life everlasting in heaven, do you think it aids the conversation to tell the minister and the person that he is comforting that this line of thinking, in your opinion, is full of shit and you believe that those remarks are not true? Would that make you feel better, somehow?

OTOH, if someone is standing up in the House of Representatives proposing a law that would favor one religion over others or none at all, that might be a time to pipe up.

Hagee has a goal of being an asshole and rallying people who are crazy fundies on a mission of hate and discrimination. MLK never had such a mission. So now's the time to discriminate--Hagee: asshole. MLK: Not.
