House Speaker Paul Ryan has condemned Donald Trumps outrageous comments twice now once after the real estate mogul called for a Muslim ban and once after he failed to adequately distance himself from former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke. But the Wisconsin Republican said on Thursday that he doesnt think hell have to denounce Trumps entire candidacy.
I do not believe Ill have to do that, Ryan told reporters at his weekly press conference. The speaker didnt clarify whether he thinks he wont have to disavow Trump because the would-be nominee will be on his best behavior, or because he doesnt think Trump will be the nominee.
When a reporter pressed Ryan, saying he has already denounced Donald Trump for xenophobia and Islamaphobia, Ryan playfully shrugged as if to say, Well, yes and no.
Ryan has yet to use Trumps name in one of his condemnations, opting instead for nebulous statements about what conservatism really is and what it is not. But its clear that Ryan has been referring to the GOP front-runner, even if Trump himself doesnt seem to be getting the message.

(17,320 posts)5. Did you hear the debate between Biden and Ryan? Biden destroyed
Ryan to the level that Ryan just started laughing at himself. It was a total wipe out.

(53,410 posts)6. Ryan didn't learn anything that day
like how stupid he looks. That's what I mean. Most people pretty much know they're not as bright as others, but this guy thinks he's the brightest bulb in the room. Now that's stupid.
Yes, I did watch the debate. Biden laughed at Ryan the entire time.

(3,040 posts)2. This is because..
All of the Republicans (especially the leadership) realize that Trump most likely will be their nominee & need to start getting in line in order to get their cabinet, agency heads, and ambassadorship etc nominations from Trump.
