GOP hits a wall with election-year budget planHouse Republicans on Tuesday unveiled a trillion-dollar budget blueprint that appears dead on arrival within the GOP conference because of opposition to the spending deal ...
About two-dozen fiscal hawks vowed to oppose the House GOPs plan before it was formally released ...
The 155-page GOP budget would repeal ObamaCare,
cut billions of dollars in mandatory spending from programs like Medicare,
shrink the Commerce Department,
strip funding from the Environmental Protection Agency,
give states control over the food stamps,
but add $89 billion more in military funding

(82,849 posts)He can't even get his own caucus to vote for his stupid ideas, and for a significant bloc it's because his stupid ideas aren't stupid enough.
Wouldn't it be great if an opposition party could make a political argument against incompetent congressional leadership, and suggest that under new leadership the country might actually move forward, get things done, create more jobs?
Ah, but I'm dreaming again. Who could possibly advance such a hare-brained argument?

(20,913 posts)GOP voters broke the government, are bad as hell about it, will vote in even worse humans to fix it. These voters are DUMB. That's not mean, that's just a conclusion based on their past actions. Who wants this?

(4,176 posts)very unintelligent, unsophisticated, immature people.
Imagine your friend at the local hardware store, who routinely explains to you why immigrants are stealing jobs, how POC are lazy and how we would all be better off with a flat tax, is now a house member or senator.
You dont have to imagine this anymore.

'Hi everybody, good morning. So the GOP shut down YOUR Government again, because reasons. So, THIS time, it can STAY shut down until I get the following, in whatever bill they pass to re-open YOUR Government:
-LISTS MONEY FOR EVERYTHING HE EVER WANTED AND DIDNT GET-
'And to the GOP, yes I'm serious as a heart attack. In 30 days, the first round of Social Security checks won't be being mailed out if the Government is still shut down, and that can be on you. This is my list, and you can pass it or not. But I wont be sigining ANYTHING that doesn't have THIS LIST IN IT, because I won't be saving your asses from yourselves again.
Thank you all for coming. God Bless the United States of America.
He arguably holds the most powerful office in the world, and he's one of the finest oraters this nation has ever produced, but the Bully Pulpit is USELESS if its EMPTY. Its time for the children over in the Congress to have to deal with an Adult.

(1,178 posts)for him to go all-in but he never does. Shut military bases in obstructionist states. Cut any federal payments that are controlled by the Executive Branch. Name the orders for their Republican leaders ("The Mitch McConnell Shrink Federal Government Act). Explain that he is doing so out of respect for that state's desire to limit federal government and watch their Republican reps try to talk their way out of it.

Now the other side not only would do this, they do it everyday.
They are seeking power so they can literally starve people to death who they consider unworthy.

(11,093 posts)How sweet is this deal?
- Run a campaign
- If you lose, you get to keep the leftover campaign funds
- If you win, you get a nice salary, health benefits and no obligation to do your job
- When you do retire (or fail to get re-elected) you get a pension that would make most Americans blush. And you still get to keep the leftover campaign funds.

Love that line from Seinfeld as it so well describes today's GOP as the rancid, hate-belching beast it is.

(75 posts)As much as I like Obama and voted for him twice, he is more of a republican 1/2 the time than a democrat. The article says he co-authored this ridiculous budget of inequity, which is a direct slam to the people of this country.

(50,567 posts)Braxton Bragg was an Army of the United States officer who became a Confederate Army officer and he was the Kim Jong Un of his day: he was such an asshole you could make up the most outlandish shit about him and people would believe it...remember the story about Kim Jong Un executing his uncle by feeding him to a pack of hungry pit bulls? And then we were all relieved when it turned out he "only" executed him with an antiaircraft gun?
What the Republicans are doing is like the old war story about when Braxton Bragg served as both a supply officer and company commander. As Bragg the Company Commander he submitted a supply request to Bragg the Supply Officer, who rejected it and sent it back...until the post commander told him, "lieutenant, you have quarreled with every officer in the Army and now you are quarreling with yourself!"
