1. Who gets out to vote in primary/non-national elections? Why, the people who are pissed off, that's who, and people in WI are pissed off at Scott Walker.
2. Team Walker is trying to suppress voter turnout by targeting people who signed the recall petitions and telling them that they don't need to vote if they signed the petition to recall Walker. What's that tell you? It tells you that they don't want a high turnout today, that's what.
3. High voter turnout is - to paraphrase Jesse Jackson - the result of a good ground game, not a good air game. The Ds have a great ground game in WI, and it will counter the dominance of the airwaves by the Rs. Why? Because a ground game directly targets and contacts potential voters, while TV ads are a passive medium that are dependent on people tuning in, not on people having to answer their door or their phone.
I think I smell fried Walker in the air...

(5,632 posts)Good grief ... the amount of money the Walker camp has spent on this ...
But reports of this huge turnout makes it hard not to feel elevated hopes. Maybe it ain't so easy for billionaires to buy elections after all ...
Keeping fingers crossed ...

Oh woe woe woe. The "poll" from 9 hours ago in BRF went 366 for Him, and only 133 for the Mayor.
Its fairly new sackcloth, hope I don't have to tear it in grief.

(34,459 posts)that Walker and his bagger cronies think such sleazy, underhanded tactics will work. The teabagger politicians think everybody is as stupid and gullible as their base.
It's infuriating.

(13,141 posts)many traditional Republicans and certainly independents are
somewhat indifferent to Walker at this point -- thanks to
people getting out the information, and going door to door --
unless they are rabid Koch fans.
He just has too much baggage already and I bet even the Kochs
are going to let him hang himself out to dry.

(1,055 posts)FWIW, the overwhelmingly Republican Milwaukee suburbs are having crazy high turnout. that means it's more important than ever to have high turnout in Milwaukee proper. We need to push it to 70% there!

(17,502 posts)I read someplace where the pretty Republican rural areas were pissed off at Walker. Hopefully, it is the same case in the suburbs.

(25,111 posts)but I think many repugs will be voting for Barrett because they are the teachers, police, firefighters, etc., that Heil Walker screwed.

(152 posts)It depends on where that high turnout is. Unfortunately, it looks like the high turnout is not limited to heavily Democratic areas. It's high in the Walker strongholds as well.

(51,728 posts)The only thing your comment will accomplish at this point is to suppress Democratic votes. Is that what you want?

(108,997 posts)But it was critical for the Democrat's turnout to be high, so I'm glad to hear that it is.

(86 posts)I voted in a relatively small suburban area which is outisde of the City of Milwaukee. I have never had to stand in line to vote here and there is only one place to vote. This village is, unfortunately, predominantly Republican and I have seen very few Tom B. signs as opposed to Walker support signs.
I had to stand in line for about 10 minutes and put up with the guy behind me talking about the Democrats being responsible for all the voter fraud problems. I turned around and said he needed to do more reading about the research which showed voter fraud problems simply didn't exist. His reply was that George Soros controlled all that information.
There is nothing to say as a response to just plain stupid, which he clearly was. Unfortunately, he was still allowed to vote.
My point is that I had to stand in a line for the first time ever in this little suburban village just outside the City of Milwaukee. I don't know what it means for Scott Walker's demise.
