North Korea says they can destroy Manhattan with a hydrogen bomb

SEOUL — North Korea claimed Sunday that it could wipe out Manhattan by sending a hydrogen bomb on a ballistic missile to the heart of New York City, the latest in a string of brazen threats.

Although there are many reasons to believe that Kim Jong Un’s regime is exaggerating its technical capabilities, the near-daily drumbeat of boasts and warnings from North Korea underlines its anger at efforts to thwart its ambitions.

“Our hydrogen bomb is much bigger than the one developed by the Soviet Union,” DPRK Today, a state-run outlet, reported Sunday. DPRK stands for the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, North Korea’s official name.

“If this H-bomb were to be mounted on an intercontinental ballistic missile and fall on Manhattan in New York City, all the people there would be killed immediately and the city would burn down to ashes,” the report said, citing a nuclear scientist named Cho Hyong Il.

---

North Korea has made advances in its intercontinental-ballistic-missile program, and though experts generally conclude that the United States’ West Coast could be within reach, there has been no suggestion that the North would be able to hit the East Coast.

Russia and China would help see to that.

China would never allow N.K. to hit one of their more valuable assets.

1. That North Korea has manufactured, with comparatively limited resources, a bomb vastly superior to those of the Soviet Union with unlimited resources, is extraordinarily unlikely.
2. That it can (at this time) hit the U.S. west coast, much less the east coast, is very unlikely.
3. That even if it did, there is a distinct possibility it would fail at launch, in flight, fail to detonate, or hit the wrong target.
4. And beyond all that, in the very unlikely event North Korea were able to do such a thing, it would happen only one time.

Critical little piece left out of that bit of North Korea bluster.

I seriously doubt the U.S. would sit idly by if they destroyed Manhattan. Such an act of aggression would undoubtedly result in an immediate and relentless retaliatory response.

In other words, it was probably just 3.5 kilotons of actual TNT.

PRK is a laughing stock. And Lil Kim has a stupid hair cut.

If you are going to make a bullshit claim like that at least pick a west coast to make it sound somewhat believable.
