A message to our dear, dwindling Greatest Generation..

Now is the time to get as loud as you can. YOU remember Hitler, YOU remember Mussolini.. You know they were elected, you know how they used fear and thugs to facilitate their rise...

You remember, personally, the havoc they wreaked upon the world..the death and misery they caused.

We now have here, in America, a true nascent fascist movement that a clueless media and a forgetful populace has enabled to a dangerous degree.

.They are pretty much gone now, a few remain who in their 90's.

You may be thinking of The Silent Generation, who were born from approximately 1925 until 1942.

I would recommend it highly.

And BTW, I was born in 1944 and though I don't have any personal memories of those people or events I do remember them being a common topic of discussion by the adults in my life.

The 'Greatest Generation' resisted serving with African-Americans during their war service we applaud so loudly. They empowered people like Joseph McCarthy and Richard Nixon to lead witch hunts against such ruthless enemies of the people as Hollywood screenwriters. They spit at, threw rocks at, and beat up black high school students who were trying to attend all-white schools. They supported a war against people on the other side of the world who were no threat to us, and bitterly denounced the peace movement and those who wanted to bring our boys home. they abandoned the goals and ideals of working-class and middle-class Americans in order to vote for a divorced Hollywood actor bent on destroying the economic foundation of the country. They oppose the relatively simple and edifying idea that two people who love each other should be legally permitted to marry. And they lie, cheat, and steal to support a legislative movement designed to deny a woman her right to make her own medical choices.

No. Fuck 'em. As far as I'm concerned, The Greatest Generation of Americans hasn't been born yet...
