Why does Salon's website suck so much?

I like a good number of their articles, but damn it, if it doesn't freeze my computer just about every I use it.

3. Which browser do you use?

Switching from Firefox to Chrome dramatically improved the performance for me of most websites and I have no problem at all with Salon. Also, do you use Adblock? Perhaps the problem is not Salon itself but the ads they embed.

For some reason, I've always shied away from Chrome, perhaps because it's frequently bundled in with other programs I've downloaded as bloatware. But maybe I'll give it a second thought.

Another favorite site of mine that's getting bad that way is Cracked.com. I have to wait a long time for every page to load before I can scroll.

7. I use my phone for those tbh...

...Too much other processor intensive stuff on my computer to juggle those too.

8. Try disabling your flashplayer.

9. I did.....problem was then I kept on getting boxes constantly asking if I wanted to enable it again.

Like every single page I went to. It got super annoying.

Is there any way to disable Adobe Flash and not constantly get boxes trying to get me to enable it?

13. On a related note, DU has been a little more wonky than usually in the past couple of weeks.

Every couple of minutes, it freezes up and has to reload itself.

Is there some new ad platform DU has switched to that doesn't agree with my IE?

It's bad on my desktop. It's impossible to read on my tablet.
