I don't know what the hell's happening (although I can guess) but I've lived in Northern New England (Vermont and New Hampshire) the majority of my life.
Growing up, we had - not always - but often subzero weather. Sometimes even 30 below. We stiill had to go to school and get on the bus. Always, lots of snow. Sometimes 3+ feet of it in one dump.
Now, this year, I have had only one reasonable snowfall, of about 8", forcing me to get out the snowblower. The other day was in the 60's. Now I can see my lawn - no snow at all.
Deniers can deny all they want, but in my 50+ years of living, I've seen major changes. As I get older, I appreciate not having to snowblow the driveway, but I hate why. We have fucked up this planet in barely 50 years (certainly 100), and to deny that is just stupid.

(40,416 posts)That's why a snowball on the US Senate floor does not mean climate change is a hoax anymore than an unusually warm February in Northern New England means it is real.
Climate is a whole other matter.
But yes, it is likely that El Niño and climate change had something to do with it. There is just no way to assign any cause and effect to it on that scale. Too localized and too short a timescale for climate.
Climate is long term and global. Weather is "Is it supposed to snow here today, and how much?" and "What are the projected high and low temps here for this week?"
I presume you knew that. Just making sure that climate change trolls know that we are ready for them.

(8,159 posts)South Dakota Black Hills usually in Feb we are20 to -30.
It's been in the 70s several times the last few weeks and maybe 33 to 30 ABOVE at night.
Very little snow this winter, green grass now.
If we don't get moisture there will be many forest fires this summer😡.
