Excel Industries

One of the ongoing conversations here on DU is about labor, the state of employment in the US, and abandonment of labor by employers.

There are few employers left like Excel Industries. They employ over 500 people in Hesston Kansas. They offer actual benefits like 401k, insurance, and paid vacations. They also have an unnecessarily generous profit sharing plan They participate in life joys of their employees. Last year they expanded, and against the advice of industry experts, they expanded to another area of Kansas rather than Mexico.

The lawn and turf equipment they produce is as good as it gets. They were pioneers in zero turn mower technology. Roy Mullet (RIP) was a self educated engineering and marketing genius. His family still operates Excel as one of the leaders in pro turf equipment and Big Dog is their homeowners brand, also awesome.

I own a 72" cut diesel unit that is what the term "American made" used to describe. Amazing equipment. If you are in the market for lawn or turf equipment this spring please consider a Hustler or Big Dog mower. Help support this incredible American Company.

I have no affiliations to Excel other than knowing many who work there including leadership.

Their tragedy will be overcome.

The day I need new farm equipment I will look their way. I don't live all that far from them and I never knew this. Thank you.
