https://www.rt.com/news/333665-toxic-tampons-shop-recall/Panty liners and tampons produced by an organic brand are being pulled off the shelves by the thousands in France and Canada after traces of glyphosate were detected in the feminine hygiene products.
Glyphosate is an active ingredient in the weed killer Roundup, which is made by agricultural giant Monsanto, so its little wonder that it made its way into the cotton-based products.
Although manufacturers claim that only tiny amounts of the pesticide were detected in the sanitary products, a decision was made to call them back from the stores.

Since some feel Russia today isn't a good enough source lets try the Guardian

(2,169 posts)A pesticide that may cause cancer has been found in 14 of the most popular beers in Germany by the Environmental Institute, Munich. The pesticide, glyphosate, is produced by Monsanto and was classified in 2015 as probably carcinogenic to humans by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
The institute tested 14 of the best selling beers in Germany and found that all of them contained traces of glyphosate. The legal limit for traces of the pesticide in drinking water is 0.1 microgrammes per litre but the lowest level found by the institute was 0.46 microgrammes in the Bavarian Augustiner beers..

(20,587 posts)neighborhoods are doused with the stuff because people want the perfect lawn and yard. Home use is higher than commercial use because people want to make sure it does the job - regardless of whether there are elderly, pregnant women, babies, or children in the neighborhood. No one thinks to warn neighbors because they have been taught it is harmless.

First, article from RT.com, which has the credibility of the National Enquirer, or less.
Second, "organic" brand.
Third, hysterical over-reaction.

(20,234 posts)You can google whether or not there is a recall - it's not a huge secret or anything.
I invite you to apply trace amounts of weed killer to the inside of your genitals, and see if you find that equally funny.
Reminds me of corporate stooges saying they wouldn't have a problem drinking water in a fracking town - while knowing that they will never be in a position to have to do so.

(755 posts)Monsanto's chemical and GMO crap - and that of its corporate competitors - is everywhere now,
infesting everything. Not just organics or personal products for women, but everything. Drifting deeply into life systems. Gag me with a gallon of glyphosate. Not.

(755 posts)You are going to fling a dubious attack at a woman of integrity
in a thread about how toxic chemicals are finding their way into women's personal sanitary products?
Please stop. If you have no relevant facts to offer, then at least stop attacking women who do have relevant facts to offer.

(16,245 posts)So-called "organic" products DO use pesticides, and sometimes in greater quantities.

(46,345 posts)Especially when I'm in a grocery store and I see "organic" stuff 2, 3, even 4 times the price of other food.
A gallon of regular milk, $2.80.
"Organic premium" milk, (it's just like regular milk,) $6 a HALF-gallon.

(755 posts)Some people seem to think glyphosate is an inconsequential addition to beer and tampons,
and so they are trashing the enterprises that are trying their best to keep toxic crap out of tampons and beer.
Why - one is absolutely forced to ask - are some people trying to hijack this discussion on toxic tampons
and to turn it into a Hippie Punching Party on organics?
What could possibly be the motivation?
For the record (and in sharp contrast with anti-science Glyphosate Deniers) let me state that I think toxic crud like glyphosate has no place in tampons, beer, or anything else that goes into the human body.

(14,157 posts)Yes, there are still real "organics" out there, but the corporations have co-opted the term and there isn't real regulation to stop them from slapping an organic label on things.
AxionExcel
(755 posts)Why are you trying to hijack this discussion about about toxic glyphosate in tampons?
You can bet your family's health that if there is glyphosate in the tampons that are striving to be made from organic cotton (which suffers a massive DRIFT problem from chem cotton fields), then there sure as hell is glyphosate in the tampons made from industrial corporate GMO chem cotton that is routinely doused in gallons after gallon of toxic glyphosate.
Archae
(46,345 posts)Wild accusations, with no or distorted science behind them.
"I stubbed my toe! It's the fault of (fill in the blank)!"
Meanwhile the organic con artists are laughing all the way to the bank.
AxionExcel
(755 posts)But then there's something for certain interests to gain by ignoring the toxic tampons,
and instead gleefully trashing organic food and cotton - which routinely
become contaminated with glyphosate being sprayed on adjacent industrial chemical-GMO fields.

(755 posts)...the anti-organic Center for Global Food Issues. There are many such "institutes" leading the attack against organics, and many are funded by chemical, pharmaceutical and agricultural multinational corporations.
Just maybe they do this - and employ Inet minions - to distract & HIJACK attention from the ugly, evil and criminal reality that their corporate crap - glyphosate - is all over the freaking place - including in our beer and tampons?
Toxic chemicals have no place in human bodies.
