Stop the hand-wringing over Trump, we got this

I admit, there are moments as I sit mouth-agape watching this arrogant shithead continue to win his party's primaries, that I get a bit nervous. "Can he really pull this off? Can this clownish, racist POS actually win the presidency?" Pundits, writers, political hacks of every kind are predicting what was once a complete joke -- a Trump presidency. But then, I step back and remind myself of the following:

1) Trump's ascendency has less to do with him and more to do with the weak class of candidates he's running against. Compared to an empty suit with zero accomplishments, a theocrat with the charm of Joseph McCarthy, a half-awake surgeon, and a former Gov. that appears too sane for a base that has been pushed to the edge of craziness by its leaders, of course this showman would do well.

2) The Latino vote: this alone could be our saving grace. No republican has won the needed 40% of Hispanic voters since W., and there is NO WAY Trump is doing it. Obama captured 70% of their vote in 2008; the chances of us losing a large chunk to someone like Trump is nearly impossible. Throw in the massive voter registration drives going on in Latino communities, and the Dems can feel confident that they will come out to vote.

3) Women voters: single women now make up the largest block of voters among women. The attacks on PP, as well as other issues related to women's health, by the GOP has garnered us more from that demographic. Additionally, the idea of voting for a thrice-married man who views women as trophies, in an election cycle that could see the first female president -- yeah, no worries there.

4) Sane republicans: there may not appear to be many of them, but they do exist. I recently had lunch with a former colleague who is a lifelong republican. She said she was "mortified" and "embarrassed" that Trump could be her party's nominee, and that there was "no way in hell" she or her husband would ever vote for him. Now I live in California, so that probably doesn't matter, but I'm willing to bet there are plenty more like them in places like PA, OH, NC, and VA.

5) Trump is an opposition-researcher's wet dream: the amount of crap this buffoon has spewed in this election cycle alone, never mind the years prior to his run, are a treasure trove of inconsistencies, vulgarities, and lies. Granted, this will mean nothing to the GOP faithful who will hold their nose and vote for anyone running against a D, but it will definitely have an impact on those undecided and independent voters.

Our turnouts may be low this year, and they may have the advantage of the enthusiasm gap -- all of which are normal for the incumbent party after eight years. But even if your preferred candidate doesn't get the nomination, the prospect of a President Trump should send all of us sprinting to the polls in November. So, please people, I get enough of the doomsday predictions from the media, let's not do it here -- we WILL win in November!

Many republicans honestly believe Trump is a "Democrat" who has pulled a fast one by pretending to be a republican. He is a con artist, and he has yet to actually come up with any kind of a real "plan" to fix anything. He just keeps saying "I know people, and you will see just wait till I am president". Crap like the works with the brain dead right wing base, the tea party crowd the racist crowd, and those are the ones voting for Trump. If in a debate, a real debate, he is force to actually come up with some kind of "facts", he will fall flat on his face.

Either one of our candidates would make him look like idiot in a debate.

If Clinton is the nominee she will motivate voter turnout for Trump. In addition to Clinton hatred Trump will be the candidate for change while Clinton will be running for more of the same.

We're already being forced to accept her as the nominee, and being able to say "i told you so" next january will be small fucking consolation.

Trump is pushing destruction of TPP/Nafta/etc.

Hillary has no defense against this.

Trust me the GE will be bizarro world where the GOP candidate pushes the destructions of anti worker trade deals and the Democratic candidate tries to sell us on them.

Beware Trump at your own peril if Hillary is the nominee.

Clinton (assuming she is the nominee). It will be bizarro world if that happens. Imagine if tRump decides to go all out and suggest that someone farther to the left than any of President Obama's choices to the SCOTUS be appointed (such as Obama himself).

Turtleman's head finally explodes?
