2018 - 3 SCOTUS Vacancies. GOP Won't Sit Replacement. A Dem Is In White House.

Like an episode from outer limits such a scenario described could exist. The GOP is so stubborn if they lose in November they are angry enough to leave vacancies until 2020.

...ththe GOP still controls the Senate. IIRC there are 33 seats in play this this November, 24 R and 11 D.
A net gain of 5 + the WH (and the presidency of the Senate for the VP) leads to a Democratic Senate.

Odds reverse in 2018 with 25 D + I seats vs. 8 R seats up for grabs.

Love to see a flip in 2016 and then, as happened for BHO, they've probably got two years to get chit done. Hopefully HRC/BS can do a better job leveraging the potentially limited time benefits.

advance to a confirmation vote. Even with 51 or 52 Democratic Senators there would have to be some intense wheeling and dealing to get 8 or 9 GOPers to vote with them.

Wherein they restrict filibustering judicial appointees. They'd have to expand it to include Supreme Court nominees, but under the scenario imagined in the OP I'd imagine the public would support such a move.

which is why our Presidents can't get much done and have to compromise to get legislation passed

I honest would not mind EITHER Hillary or Bernie as long as we also get at least the Senate back in our corner!!!

No amount of hero worship or t-shirts will help if congress is not at least half ours!!!

We can either win the WH or the Senate or both. The SC is at stake and that is the biggest item in this election, believe it or not. Even if you don't vote for the top of the ticket, you must vote down-ballot and win the Senate back.
