Cruz: As president I will find, deport undocumented immigrants

Riding on Trumps coattails now! They're damn fools wanting to usher in a horrific future for the US. Troops wandering the streets banging on doors in the night, papers please. Yet another total WTF!

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2016/02/22/cruz-as-president-i-will-find-deport-undocumented-immigrants/

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) significantly sharpened his stance on immigration Monday, stating that he would find and deport the more than 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States.

1. Not sure which is scarier: He will do what he says or he is lying telling his base what they want to

hear (which politicians do all the time).

In the first instance, it does portend a "horrific future for the US". In the second, it is extremely depressing that national politicians have to pretend to be racist and nativist because that is what their party base demands.

16. Scariest is what it says about the Republican base

Like with Trump, I doubt Cruz actually means what he says. He is trying to follow Trump's lead in selling his brand to the Republican base. Intolerance sells very well with them, as we saw with Trump's surge in popularity after he suggested not allowing Muslims into the country.

Republican candidates like to make these threats because it resonates with the voters. However, like I just said in another thread, the politicians don't have any plans to actually follow through on their threads:

--
Republicans like to complain about undocumented migrants in general, they like to complain even louder whenever there is talk about given undocumented migrants legal resident alien status, BUT..

Republicans don't actually want the undocumented migrants to return to their home countries. They might say that every once in a while to appease their racists constituents, but in reality they love to take advantage of the cheap labor.

The two big reasons Republicans oppose giving the migrants legal status is that first, it would require them to pay the workers fair wages and to pay taxes on them and second, legal resident alien status might lead to citizenship down the road, and most of the workers would likely end up voting Democratic.

Look how the Republican establishment reacted when Trump said he wants to deport all the undocumented migrants and then have Mexico build a border wall. Even the likes of Jeb Bush condemned Trump's rhetoric, because Republicans actually want the workers to stick around and continue to provide cheap labor.
