Is anyone else as DISGUSTED as I am with the Scalia worshipfest?

I have had it. I had to call this out. This was one of the worst justices in the history of the United States Supreme Court. He claimed to be an "originalist" about the Constitution, but the only thing "original" about him was his penchant for turning in opinions that matched his views, not the Constitution. He twisted the Constitution repeatedly to achieve the end results he wanted, and was a fraud.

I was an honors graduate from a great law school more than 30 years ago, and won the award for best student in Constitutional Law. I only cite that so you know I'm not kidding, not to accept my arguments.

I'm sure his family loved him, etc. But his legacy is disenfranchisement - of women, of minorities, of average Americans. The media ought to be ashamed to accept this crap unconditionally. I'm getting old now, and thinking my first vote - for George McGovern - was my best.

GET ANGRY, MY DU FRIENDS!

be run by unelected judges?

guess that's why he helped keep the SCOTUS away from the Florida recount imbroglio

wait a minute.....

of course Brian Williams most unctuously agreed to this insane rewriting of history

but I'm heartened by serveral articles where lawyers finally talk about how this will spell the death of "originalism".

Also, here is a wonderful article, written by Scalia, explaining where democracy went wrong (spoiler: divine right of kings) and why he had no problem with the death penalty . . .

Ok, the man was bright and eloquent.

He was also corrupt. And I don't have to feel bad about him being gone.

I want to know the details about his "last" trip. Who footed the bill and exactly what did they gain by having Scalia in their pocket? Americans deserve to know, because ultimately it is them that pay the price for crooked politicians (including judges).

Really makes you wonder what it cost to have the Supremes steal the presidency, doesn't it?

And I never understood until now how the court managed to throw out 100 years of law on guns. All it took was this obsessed sob who knew what he wanted the law to mean and made it that way.

The hero worship on the boob-tube is mostly power worship.

Truth is his power belonged to his office, it really never was owned by him, it was a temporary gift.

I appreciate his death's impact and significance to his family. I appreciate the significance of his death to them. I wish them the best and expect them to be able to get beyond this remembering the best of life that he brought them.

America will get on with getting on, our greatness is, in large part, how little our 'great' leaders actually mean to the continuity of governance.

To keep up the pretenses of the oligarchy we must make heros of those that perpetuate it's existence.

I haven't been following any of it. I'm one of the millions whose live was ruined by one of his decisions, specifically Bush vs. Gore. The only thing I want to know know is where he is buried, so I can go take a huge dump on his grave.

I only watch sports, music, comedy news, and fiction on TV, so the only Scalia-worship I've seen is the "c'mon-guys-be-nice-a-man's-dead" bullshit floating around here on DU.

And that's easy enough to ignore.
