Son Of Moral Majority Founder Tells Pope To Keep Out Of Politics

http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/son-moral-majority-founder-tells-pope-keep-out-politics

A New York Times profile today of Franklin Graham and Jerry Falwell Jr., heirs to their respective fathers’ evangelical dynasties, included one very surprising line.

Falwell Jr., who is Donald Trump’s most prominent evangelical endorser, took issue with criticism of his preferred candidate:
I really believe that anybody on the left or the right that tries to invoke the teachings of Jesus to say they should vote for this candidate or that candidate, I think they’re stretching Scripture.

Then, this afternoon, as Trump engaged in a war of words with Pope Francis over the GOP presidential frontrunner’s hardline anti-immigrant policies, Fallwell Jr. — who has compared Trump to Jesus — told CNN:
Jesus never intended to give instructions to political leaders on how to run a country.

With these remarks, Falwell Jr. is denying the very premise of the Religious Right movement … which was shaped in large part by his father, Jerry Falwell.

"Jesus never intended to give instructions to political leaders on how to run a country"

Then ; How can it be said that the foundation of Democracy is established through biblical precepts?

Either Jesus/God established Democracy, or Jesus/God didn't establish Democracy ... If he/they did, then they of course "gave instruction" on how to "run a government"

So many peculiar inconsistencies ...

27. Jerry Falwell's Deal with the Devil
Sat Feb 20, 2016, 01:07 PM
Feb 2016
The Rev. Jerry Falwell’s death will elicit scores of eulogies on the good the televangelist did, even while acknowledging some hurtful actions, such as blaming gays and civil libertarians for 9/11. But there is another little-known chapter of Falwell’s career: his collaboration with a Korean cult leader bent on transforming the United States into a theocracy.

By Robert Parry
May 16, 2007

Like other prominent Republican figures, Falwell entered into a behind-the-scenes alliance with the Rev. Sun Myung Moon even as the self-proclaimed Messiah was denouncing America as “Satan’s harvest” and vowing to incorporate the United States into a worldwide theocratic empire that would eradicate all individuality.

Falwell sought to conceal his relationship with Moon, sometimes denying (falsely) that he had benefited from Moon's financial help or that he had been photographed with the cult leader. Other times, Falwell sought to justify his acceptance of Moon’s largesse.

“If the American Atheists Society or Saddam Hussein himself ever sent an unrestricted gift to any of my ministries,” Falwell said in response to a question about Moon’s financial assistance, “be assured I will operate on Billy Sunday’s philosophy. The Devil’s had it long enough, and quickly cash the check.”

Falwell’s acceptance of Moon’s mysterious money was first disclosed at Consortiumnews.com in fall 1997. In a pattern common to Moon’s financial operations, the Korean cult leader stepped in when a leading American conservative, in this case Falwell, was facing potential financial ruin.

SNIP...

So, covertly, Moon helped bail out Liberty University through one of his front groups which funneled $3.5 million to the Reber-Thomas Christian Heritage Foundation, the non-profit that had purchased the school's debt.

Usually ends very badly for the NotJesuit Party. So far, nobody has been able to jam a shiv through TehDonalds Teflon armor...but Francis ain't no rank amateur here. He came up through the Dirty Wars, and knows what hes doing. More importantly, he knows the game Trump is playing at (he knew what this was before Donald got out of bed this morning). If i were Trump, I would take today's exchange as a very serious warning not to fuck with a calm Lion.
