if he doesn't get the nod at the convention.

if there is a single defining moment when the repub crazy machine goes into collapse and spins apart at high speeds, that will be it.

There is a revolt going on in the GOP. And Trump can say pretty much anything and still hold his support.

Obviously he won't get mine. And I'm very much a practicing Catholic. And there are a lot of Catholics out there--both practicing and not practicing--who lean left and would never consider a day in their life voting for Trump.

The greater question is, will his tift with the Pope alienate Catholics who lean to the right? It might for some.

For others, they are so blinded by the Republican and conservative economic ideology that they'll take the word of a bombastic Republican any day over that of the Pope, especially this more nuanced Pope.

The current roughly equal split of the Catholic vote is saved by the reliably Dem Latinos. White Catholics overwhelmingly vote GOP as above table shows.

At this point, I'm pretty sure his chances of actually winning this year are pretty dire. Which is good, since a Trump presidency would be a disaster for America.
