What Would You Do?
You've got a good life. You've got more money than you will ever need.
You've got a nice family and a lot of friends. By any metric, you're a very successful person.
But something is missing. There's some else you really want.
You don't really need it, you just really, really want it.
Not only do you want it, you want it so badly that you've dedicated
years of your life and a pile of money trying to get it. So much time
and money in fact that it begins to look like you are obsessed
with having this thing? And, time is running out. You've only got one more chance.
What would you do to get it?
Would you lie about your accomplishments?
Would you lie about your mistakes?
Would you lie about your plans?
Would you lie about other people?
Would you lie to other people?
Would you ask others to lie on your behalf?
What do you think about people who would?
Could you ever trust them?

(63,225 posts)I'd appear on SNL in a skit designed to poke fun at the perceived similarity to my oratorical style and that of Larry David.
I don't sound like him, of course, but wouldn't that be a riot?

(5,614 posts)I see what you did, changing the focus from HRC to Sanders. Cute.
Just one clarification. Larry was imitating Bernie, not the other way around.

(63,225 posts)It's a question about human nature and trust.
It's a question about what humans are willing to do
to get what they want. It's really quite simple.
Why do you think it's political unless you associate lying with politicians?
Is there some politician in particular you have in mind when you think about lying?

(37,573 posts)If you were part of a right wing noise machine dedicated to preserving privileges for the rich? You get paid decent money, sometimes really good money to be part of this machine. The machine is dedicated to keeping Republican control of Congress and putting a Republican in the White House.
But the Democrats have a really strong candidate. One with lots of money and accomplishments and positive name recognition. One who will appeal to many female voters who otherwise vote Republican.
Clearly you have to stop her.
What would you do?
Would you pretend to be a dedicated leftist to enable your attacks?
Would you accuse her of lying?
Would you accuse her of doing or saying anything to be President like your team did for Al Gore?
Would you attack anybody who spoke on her behalf?
What would you think about anonymous people who did?
Could you ever trust them?
I didn't mention any names. It's not a political post and is not in GDP.
Is there some reason you associate a question about liars
with a particular "her"?

(37,748 posts)"What Would You Do?"
I'd write a post that hides behind implication, maintains an inaccurate pretense of cleverness, and get frustrated when the responses don't align to my bias or use my own lack of wit to turn my implication by 180 degrees.
"Could you ever trust them?"
After writing a post such as I described, no way.
