The President has basically 25% of his second term left..

I do not understand how the republicans think that this President should not nominate someone??? If there was on a month left of his administration.. okay they would have an argument..not that it would change the law of the land..that it is the President who nominates at any point .. but he has a quarter of his term left.. just saying..

they can't stop now even if they want to, even if it obviously makes no sense, as in a (hypothetical) failing to approve a nominee they previously approved 97-0 for the U.S. Court of Appeals, Sri Srinivasan. Obstructionism defines their brand now.
