Support poured in Saturday for a family that lost two brothers in a violent standoff a day earlier, as sheriff’s deputies were trying to figure out why it happened.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has identified two men killed Friday as they tried to help their sister move out of her former boyfriend’s house. They are Jason Edwards, 41, and his brother John Edwards, 35, both of Papillion.

The Edwards brothers were fatally shot as they were helping their sister, Julie Edwards, 42, move out of the home of Kenneth Clark, 45.

Friday was John Edwards’ 35th birthday. Both men leave behind wives and children, according to family friends.

as sheriff’s deputies were trying to figure out why it happened. Are they serious? It happened because she was leaving Kenneth Clark. No great mystery.

It is unclear what prompted Julie Edwards to move out or why the couple broke up.

Doesn't matter. It really doesn't.

The reporter doing his or her job in reporting a motive for a crime. Jesus Christ, reporting on a motive does not mean the reporter justifies a crime. Attacking and censoring journalism is not how to promote victim rights.

Appeared rather limited in scope as to the what where and why of the situation. This was never a censoring comment, but just wanted to know the real cause of why this happened.. Pretty obvious the shooter had issues.

A reporter is not a police officer nor a prosecutor, though even they care about motive. Motive is never required in criminal prosecutions but frequently is used to prove a case. Thus, a reporter would definitely care about reporting on motive.

Neither a criminal case nor a news article needs to dig into her "motive" for leaving.

Was the relationship abusive beforehand? Did the assailant have any criminal priors? How did he get a gun? This may not help this family, but it would helpfully influence the discourse to prevent future tragedies.
