EDIT: massive fire in north Mumbai

OK, sounds like it's all "OK" now... Huge fire at a festival in northern Mumbai; PM and several Bollywood stars were there. Seems to have been an electrical issue. Anyways: the "panic" phase is at least for now over...

with half the stage ablaze and thick, black smoke starting to fill the theater.

Theater fires are the worst: it's dark, it's crowded, and exits are always too small and too few.

Fire is out, evacuation called "orderly," no casualty reports, video at http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/fire-breaks-out-on-stage-at-make-in-india-week-event-in-mumbai/1/595897.html Looks like it was an outdoor theater, that's why there are no casulaties so far. Smoke is what kills people.
