Just as it was the Democrats' prerogative to reject Bork as being too extreme.

Obama's goal should be to find someone with liberal views who can be sold to the American public as mainstream -- someone like Chin or Srinivasan who was confirmed by the Senate to a judgeship with no dissenting repub votes.
