He wants to win the nomination, but he doesn't really want to govern. He'd quit. Would he give up his lifestyle to serve? Not more than a few weeks. Sometimes, I think this is just his version of a new reality show where the finale is during the Republican Convention.

until his numbers start to fall. He is playing a game with the American electorate and doesn't really want to win. He has now gone far enough to be able to tell himself that if he wanted he could win.

I think his comment about being able to shoot someone on the streets of New York and still lead in the polls was a sort of cry for help. Or at least disbelief in the absurdity of his own campaign.

Of course not. Think he wants this so he can find ways to plunder the treasury, declare bankruptcy when the loss is noticed and walk away. He knows Repugs would protect him because they don't care either.

But to put all his holdings in trust, remove himself from his game, run up against interference and defeat a couple of times in Congress, lose arguments and issues to people who disagree with him, live on $250K a year--he isn't used to any of those things and I don't see him giving up being the Boss. He can't tell Congress, "You're fired." I've read about him regularly in the NY papers for almost 40 years, I promise you that he pledges allegiance only to himself. Pay attention to who he selects as Vice because that is the person who will be President after he pulls a Palin and walks off the job. After he blows it completely, of course, he'll call us all losers.

goes his way, it's ok, otherwise everyone is sub-human and disgusting. He can walk away from what he doesn't like. The country can't.

I think we would be weakened as to be a much more likely target for China or Russia, in addition to the likelihood that his ignorant and by all accounts ill-thought interactions with any other country is so ham-handed that he will probably provoke more international hatred by just being such a nasty, obnoxious ass.

Half of this country is continuing to bleed economically, as they have for the past decade, ever so slightly, and have never recovered what they lost over the past few decades. Evilhair says we can make it all better without cost. He's wrong, but that hasn't stopped us from being suckered by that message since...forever?

President Sanders says we need to act like adults, run it like we know it needs to be done, care for ourselves so we can do better.

That's what Jimmy Carter said, and I don't recall the opposition that beat him being as virulent or organized as it is today, so it could get interesting.

They used to be able to do mostly that. Now all they are, are embarrassment after embarrassment to the rest of the world, as they drag us evermore into 3rd worldism with their selfish childishness. Clown cars and circuses is all they have to offer now with their lies.

I used to think they were normal with differing views. But since Reagan they shifted into craziness. A government where the rich try to turn us into a 2 class system. People at the top and at the bottom and no in between. My guess is that a lot of normal middle class non-redneck types are probably disturbed with the whole thing and hopefully ready to do something about it. Always amazes me when adults, often famous people, are in the party of their parents....some kind of loyalty thing. Maybe they are ready to see that it is no longer their parents party...it's gone into lunacy! If Trump doesn't make them see the light...then they are hopeless.

their fanatical devotion to their team is so similar to religious fanaticism.

Such "team" voters don't think about the damage a bad candidate can do to the country (or to the voters themselves); their only concern is to make sure their "team" wins.

Any sane, responsible Republican considering a run this time would presumably take a look at Huntsman's utter failure and conclude, correctly, that there was no point in even trying.

Given Hillary Clinton's propensity for using the word I -- to the point of excess, I'd say; I think Mr. Trudeau could easily have drawn Hillary into this strip instead of Trump and it would be just as "funny" and on point. Admittedly, there's a difference in the kind of conceit each candidate demonstrates but it remains conceit, nonetheless.

You can't possibly win an election without promoting yourself. It is not conceit, it's necessary. Trump has spent his whole life promoting himself long before he even dreamed of being president. Hilllary's focus has been on people and helping them have better lives. You may remember her book "It takes a Village"...where is the conceit in that?

You think "I'm just a regular person who hasn't done a whole lot...but vote for me" would make a good campaign slogan????

NOBODY is like Trump. He's in a class all by himself. THANK GOD!!!!

Let's be better than republicans. Like for example...you can be for Hillary or Bernie without undermining or trashing the other.
