The one thing that keeps me from giving into grave dancing over the death of Justice Scalia . . . .

. . . and I do mean the ONE thing, is the fact that he and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, although bitter rivals on the bench, were close personal friends. That makes me think that perhaps there was some facet of him that we, as members of the general public, were not privy to. But, while I might not be prepared to dance on his grave . . .

. . .

I'LL HAPPILY HOST A FUCKING RAVE ON HIS EMPTY CHAIR AT THE COURT!

Sadly, it did make me think worse of Ginsburg.

. . . I am merely allowing that there may be some part of him, or something about him, that I didn't know. Admittedly, it's hard to imagine what that might be, but hey, I did not personally know the man.

him "behind closed doors." What he said and did in public was so vile and so damaging that I cannot imagine wanting to have anything to do with him personally.

Justice Ginsburg clearly disagrees and that makes me question how she chooses her friends.

7. Not everyone needs someone to agree with them to be friends.

I don't agree with many things family members of mine do (and even a few friends) yet I still love them and appreciate every minute I spend with them.

For some people, political opinions aren't their end all and be all. For others it is.

try and have familial harmony where possible.

As for friends, there is holding a differing "political opinion" and then there is being a vile, loathsome, racist misogynist who thinks it's okay to execute innocent people. It's not as if Ginsburg and Scalia had been friends for years when she found out his true nature. The fact that she chose to be friends with such a horrible person diminishes her in my eyes. You may feel differently.
